My Weekends and Household Hazardous Waste

I've noticed that many of my neighbors have been very busy the last 6 weeks with yard projects and house cleaning projects.  I anticipate that is because we all have had a lot more time at home.  I certainly have been busy cleaning out closets, the basement and our garage.
I started to slow down when I realized very few of the locations that accept donations were open and the city locations that take hazardous waste were also closed.  Fortunately, the organizations that accept household donations started to open this week and the City of Olathe opened their Household Hazardous Waste facility on Wednesday May 13th.  The City does require that you make an appointment to drop of hazardous items.  All of that old paint I found in the garage will find it's home their soon.
I've also noticed that the number of homes for sale in my neighborhood has increased in the last few weeks.  Most people want to move in the Summer and be settled before the next school year starts.  If you are thinking about moving, consider renting plastic moving boxes instead of buying cardboard boxes.  Check out bins4moves.com, select how many bins you want to rent, place your order and the plastic moving bins will be delivered to you and picked up once your move is complete.  What could be easier?
The arrival of Covid-19 has reminded me of all the great things Johnson County has to offer.  Please continue to support all of the great small businesses in our area as you work through your day to day projects.
